Lou Mejia Director of Compliance / Title IX Coordinator

Lou Mejia is Catholic University's Director of Compliance, Ethics, and Privacy and Title IX Coordinator. Before joining Catholic University in October 2021, he was in private practice with a national law firm. Lou is also the former Chief Litigation Counsel for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Lou received his law degree from George Washington University Full Bio.

    Department of Public Safety

    The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is located at 120 Leahy Hall. It is staffed 24 hours a day and has more than 30 commissioned officers. To contact DPS, call 202-319- 5111. All campus emergency telephones automatically connect to DPS.

  • Counselors

    Catholic University Counseling Center

    The Counseling Center provides up to 45 weekly sessions at no charge for full-time undergraduate and graduate students at Catholic University. Students must first schedule an intake appointment and then will work with the Center to set up a schedule for therapy sessions. The counseling sessions are confidential and are not part of a student's academic record.

    The Counseling Center clinical staff includes psychologists, social workers, a psychiatrist, and psychology and social work graduate student counselors. While some of our staff have particular areas of expertise, each staff member is trained to assess and treat a wide variety of concerns.

    Sexual Assault Survivor Support Groups: In addition to individual therapy, the Counseling Center runs group therapy sessions specifically for sexual assault survivors. For more information on meeting times, contact the Counseling Center.

  • Health Services staff

    Catholic University Student Health Services

    The Student Health Center is headed by Dr. Laurie Staudt, who is board certified in family medicine. The staff includes three nurse practitioners, a triage nurse, and a registered nurse.

    The Student Health Center is open during the academic year on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. It is open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Student Health Services can provide a medical exam and testing for sexually transmitted diseases. All information given to a physician or nurse practitioner is confidential and will not be shared with other campus offices.
